Last month, the Green Thumb Committee was awarded a $2,000.00 grant from the Whole Kids Foundation (Whole Foods/Food Corps) to fund our school garden program. We are still waiting for the funds to come through. However, due to the success of the May’s Plant Sale, the GTC was able to purchase some of the supplies for immediate use this spring.
New supplies include:
- easy to use CompostTumbler
- two odor-free compost pails for our collection of school/cafeteria scrap by the 3rd and 4th grade classes in our pilot program (ie. greens like vegetable and fruit scraps =nitrogen & browns like paper and card board =carbon)
- 100’ hose and hose storage for Woolly School Garden area (blue pockets on fence @ upper playground)
